If I’ve learnt anything in my 10 years of parenthood, it’s that tiiiiiiiiiiime flies. I know that’s so cliché, but I feel like it was only a second ago that my babies were teeny tiny, and now my daughter has almost overtaken me in height (I’m not kidding). So while I can’t control or slow down time, I CAN freeze it with my camera. I can capture memories, bonds, little grinning faces, looks of absolute devotion, giggles, fun, YOUR FAMILY, EXACTLY HOW YOU ARE RIGHT NOW. I am so grateful that I have precious photos of my little ones throughout their different stages and ages, the photos mean the world to me, and I want to be able to give that to other families.
A family photography session with KATIE WHEELER PHOTOGRAPHY is not a staged, posed, wearing matching outfits, studio session. If that’s what you’re after, I can happily recommend some brilliant photographers that shine in this style of work… BUT if you’re after some candid, natural, silly, fun, intimate photos of your family, then I just might be your girl. I have 2 kids (8 and 10). I know how hard it is to get their natural smiles when you’re forcing them to sit in front of a camera… so a session with me wont involve this. We will get you being as comfortable and genuine as possible, play with your kids how you would do when there isn’t a camera around, tickle, tell jokes, whisper, I’ll sing for your kids (age dependent… if they’re 10 like mine, then they may run from this), be silly, whatever it takes to get them being themselves. Your job as parents? Relax, be present in the photos, don’t apologise for your kids behaviour (trust me I’ve seen whatever they can throw at me), and just have fun.
Approximately 1 hour photoshoot (sometimes shorter, sometimes longer) outdoor at a location in our Geelong region 50 images edited (in a range of colour and black and white) and delivered via digital download through an online gallery. Access to my print store to order fine art prints.
I understand that its hard to get in front of the camera. I will acknowledge that I'm guilty of hiding behind my lens in the past. But I am putting a stop to it, and I'd encourage you to do so to. My kids LOVE looking at photos of us all together, of me with them when they were babies, of me with their dad.. they just want to see me. They don't care that I haven't had time to have my hair dyed, they just want to see me smiling and being present with them. So please take the leap, hop in front of the camera. I'll do everything I can to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I get it. Katie x
